Milestones

Developmental milestones or skills usually happen by certain ages.
Although each child develops at their own pace,
watching to see when your child reaches these milestones helps you know how your child is developing.

At 3 Months
Follows moving toys or faces with eyes
Responds to loud or new sounds
Reaches for and grasps toys or hair
Lifts head and shoulders while on stomach
Makes gurgling, cooing, babbling sounds

At 6 Months
Turns towards voices
Reaches for toys and picks them up
Rolls over
Helps hold bottle during feedings
Babbles, squeals and repeats vowel sounds

At 9 months
Copies sounds or gestures
Reaches for small things
Moves toys from one hand to other
Supports self with arms when on stomach
Sits unassisted

At 12 months
Responds to name
Crawls on hands and knees
Pulls up to standing position
Drinks from a cup with help
Says 1 to 2 words

At 15 months
Uses gestures
Looks at picture books
Holds crayon in fist
Walks alone without help

At 18 months
Likes to pull and push things
Follows simple directions
Pulls off shoes and socks
Feeds self sometimes
Points to body parts
Copies words or actions

At 24 months
Can name two objects
Likes to pretend play
Puts together simple puzzle pictures
Plays alone with toys for short time
Says "no" a lot

At 36 months
Answers simple questions
Walks up steps alternating feet
Puts on own clothes
Likes to play with other children
Repeats simple rhymes and songs
Uses 3 to 5 word sentences
